AUTUMN / WINTER 2013

Frosty 9th hole

Looking outside, there is no doubt now that Autumn is here with the gales and blowing leaves. That said, we still have the Summer Trophy play-off to fit in and the Winter league starts this weekend. All we need is for Spring to arrive quickly and we have the Four Seasons!

And let’s hope the winter is more benign than last year. What with the wettest autumn and coldest winter in years then the latest spring, it was a wonder that we ever got going at all. Always a test for the greens staff but the course is in fine condition and going into winter in the best shape it has for years so we are as prepared as we can be for whatever Mother Nature send our way.

The golf won’t stop of course. While the ladies sensibly ease back on their winter programme, the men start out on the aforementioned winter league and the Foursomes Harborough Cup. Only the foulest of weather will deter those brave souls.

Off the course too, there is plenty going on – short mat bowls last weekend was great fun then there’s Presentation Night and the first of the winter quizzes coming up in the next couple of weeks to name but two.

Always something to keep us interested

Until next time…
