Night Golf

A warm Autumn evening saw a first for the Club when golf was played in the dark over the top five holes. Tee markers were illuminated, the fairways delineated by a series of white lights running down the middle of each one, the bunkers were marked with blue lights and green ones showed the outline of the greens. All the flag sticks resembled Christmas trees and the marker on 8 and the tree in the middle of 9 sported flashing lights. Each player used a ball that illuminated when struck creating a spectacular tracking to a well hit shot. The balls remained lit for several minutes thus ensuring they were easy to find, even in the deepest rough. One ball was actually retrieved from the lane where it had been errantly struck from the 9th tee.

A texas scramble format ensured that the teams of four enjoyed a remarkable and memorable evening which was rounded off by a warming curry back in the club house.  An event that will surely be repeated as it created much entertainment.
