SPRING 2014

3rd hole blog post

Looking outside, there is no doubt now that Spring is finally with us. The buds are out in the hedgerows and the birds are more numerous and vocal. Even the most sluggard winter golfers are coming out of hibernation to join the hardy souls who played when they could through the wettest, most miserable winter many can remember.

Let’s hope the Spring is more helpful than last year when weeks and weeks of dry weather meant things got off to a slow start. With the wettest autumn and coldest winter in years then the latest spring, it was a wonder that we ever got going at all. Always a test for the greens staff isn’t there?

Despite the rain, the golf didn’t stop. While the ladies sensibly ease back on their winter programme, the Men’s Winter League is done and dusted and the Foursomes Harborough Cup has reached the closing rounds. The Seniors have already had their Spring Meeting, B team matches begun this month and we’ve already beaten local clubs Kidderminster and Hagley in the Mail on Sunday five-a-side singles.

Socially things have been a mixture of bands, quizzes, comedy and more.  In short, it’s starting to happen – amazing what a bit of sunshine does for morale!

Always something to keep us interested

Until next time…
