October 25 Rabbits & Tigers

Even though the numbers were small it was no less fun or competitive at last Sunday's Rabbits and Tigers.

Just a reminder this competition has been running since January 1949, as can be seen from the photo of the start sheet back then, Tigers were triumphant with a 5/1 win, no mention of starting one down or any other spurious rule!

This is a fun competition and has obviously evolved over the years, your Committee are committed to continuing this tradition and would like some feedback as to why numbers have dropped of in recent years. Please pass your thoughts on to either the Captain,Pete Cash, The Vice Captain Paul Innes or Hon Sec Bob Julier.

Last weekends match was keenly contested with some remarkable play from both sides. Starting with at 1 hole up, and the team without the honour choosing to play of any tee at the next hole! the Rabbits came out victorious with a 7 1/2--1 1/2 victory.

Well done Rabbits, even though you were restricted to a 28 handicap

October 25 News Letter from our Head Greenkeeper Wayne

Hi everyone hope that you all have enjoyed your golf in 2025, not been the best 9 months so far, the weather has not played ball. This year has brought many new challenges and learned so much about the course and how we can improve over the next few years. I would like to thank all members, committees and the management committee for your support and understanding this year. Moving forward I am really looking forward to getting the course the best it can for the centenary year. This has already started with the winter projects, many things are going to happen over the coming months which include improving the chipping area to the green, red 1st tee and improving all the paths around that area. Work will be done to improve access to the 2nd tee, plus new mat, and drainage. New access to the 11th tee will be made and already leveled and re-turfed the 11th yellow tee. Certain paths around the course will be improved, some bunkers will be looked at, tree work will be done to improve air flow and line of shot. Work will also be done around the sheds to tidy the areas up and make more room. Irrigation will be upgraded to change the pump to allow us to water more, sprinklers will be added where we feel they are needed. Work on the greens, tees and aprons will continue over the winter months with aeration and top dressing. The heights of cut have come up on these areas to help keep them healthy as the temperatures are changing. Leaves will be collected, blown, and cutting will be done when needed.
