Changes to 4th Hole

This coming October/November we will start the work to change and renovate the 4th/13th hole, to improve the look of the hole and to make it more playable and enjoyable for all levels of golfers.

A new winter mat will be put at the back of the middle tee which will be used for both 4TH and 13TH hole. As the main tees wear, we will use the mat for general play during the week and keep competitions on the main tees for as long as possible.

The conifer tree on the right-hand side of the hole will be removed and stump grinded out, this will improve the look of the hole, add more light to the green and be more playable for all golfers. The steps will also be removed, and the area will be filled in with soil and blended in to match the rest of the bank and seeded.

New steps will be inserted into the bank at the back left hand side of the green to allow allow access to the green from the left hand side path.

The area back right of the green on the bank will be cleared and new plants will be planted to add some colour to the area.

The path on the right-hand side will be made wider all the way to the 5th tee for the use of buggies, the tree line on other side of path will be cleared to help with speed of play. All traffic will be using the path, so all golfers enter and exit the green from the back. This is to help with safety from golfers ready to tee off and help with speed of play.

The trees on the left-hand side of the green will be trimmed back and gaps filled with new trees. The bare area around the bunker will be renovated so that grass can be grown.

The approach at the front of the green will be made bigger. This will allow a bigger landing area and an improved look to the hole. Turf will be removed, and soil brought in to raise the area then relay the turf.

The bunker will be filled in and the bank will be shaped to reduce the ball bouncing off and going out of bounds and for machinery to cut the bank. A new bunker will be constructed at the front left of the green that will be seen from the tee, allow all golfers to play out easier and be less time and cost for maintenance.

At times while work is being done, we may have to close the hole and put a shorter hole at the start of the 5th to the Practice area, then use the red tee on 14th for the 5th hole. Wayne will try his best to keep this to a minimal and ask for all your cooperation during this time, he will use as much material as possible on site to help reduce costs, but some will be brought to help complete the construction
