Environment and Sustainability Statement

Environment and Sustainability

Golf Clubs are collectively the third largest landowner in the Country and we at Churchill & Blakedown take this responsibility very seriously. We operate at  many levels , from conservation of wildlife to health and well-being for all ages, to jobs and economic value through local supply chains, golf is good for nature and communities.

Over the last couple of years here at Churchill and Blakedown Golf Club we have been involved with Worcestershire County Council in “Clean Growth” and “Low Carbon” programmes. We also involve ourselves with the Greener Golf Network, who are developing policies and processes for helping Golf Clubs to develope  low carbon and sustainability programs.

  • We have renewed all electric lighting with low energy LED lamps and bulbs.
  • We have Installed a 48 KWH Solar energy system.
  • Our Bar & Restaurant source as much of the ingredients as we can locally.
  • No toxic chemicals are used on the Golf Course.
  • The irrigation system has been upgraded to allow more controlled, specific, targeted usage.
  • Non playing areas are being allowed to grow naturally, giving wild life habitats for insects birds and small mammals.
  • We actively encourage wild life around the course.
