What an event!
Around 100 members took part in 70 matches in the Club’s bi-annual Ryder Cup event.
The Churchill Team(Red), captained by Club Captain Jeremy Price, against the Blakedown Team(Blue) captained by Vice Captain Pete Cash. After some pretty gruesome social media baiting and with the previous events, 2 years ago, a drubbing of Churchill, tensions ran high on the opening morning.
The Friday Foursomes was a very closely fought battle and some great performances produced an All Square result! 7/7.
After a nervous start from both teams the afternoon better balls got underway, and again some great performances resulted in a small lead for Churchill by the end of Day 1. Churchill 14 Blakedown 13.The weather looked fine and after a hearty breakfast the teams turned up for Singles day, with Churchill up 1 point, it was all to play for.
The day went well, great camaraderie and support from the Clubhouse Team, some hard fought battles resulting in a overall win for Blakedown of 40 to 30. The evening celebration went off extremely well with the reveal being a balloonburst full of Blue(Blakedown) confetti!!!
Well done to the team Captains and the MAD committee for organising the event, with special thanks to Alys for all her hard work, ably supported by Lesley and all the staff. The evening meal was superb, with great service all round.
The Course was superb and our thanks go to Wayne, Darren and Mark for their hard work in turning it out in such fine condition.
A great event where everyone and the Club was a winner. Thank you to all who took part and anyone else who helped in anyway.
