Last weekend saw a new competition. This was in the stableford pairs better ball format but with a limit to the clubs allowed. Gentlemen had 3 clubs plus and a putter whilst the Ladies had one more club.
Over nine holes the scoring was surprising, especially given the constant need for many manufactured shots. 24 pairings entered the shotgun start and there were 7 scores of 21 points and above. The eventual winners, Andy Blackwell and Ian Wilkinson, were one of the three scores of 23 points, but won on count back.
All the players were encouraged to embrace the Christmas theme and the response was brilliant with some exceptional outfits worn and with trolleys that resembled sleighs. No bells or reindeer though.
The lunch that followed was attended by nearly 60 and kindly prepared by some of the members.
All told a most enjoyable and fun occasion which will surely be repeated.
