Ladies Fashion Show Open

Churchill & Blakedown is set to combine fairways and fashion at its first Ladies Open of the season. The Club is hosting a 9-hole tournament on Thursday, March 30 which will be followed by some of the members parading the latest golfing trends.

The idea has proved popular,  with the event sold out having attracted 44 entries from across the county.

The Club has had a successful membership drive over the past year and is working particularly hard to encourage more female golfers.

Lady Captain, Judy Perry and PGA professional, Angus Hoare and his PGA assistant, Phil Lathwood have organised the fashion show.

“Our ladies will be parading the latest offerings from Glenmuir and Sunderland. It’s a bit of fun and if anybody likes what they see they will be able to order it through Angus and Phil,” said Judy who is pictured centre with fellow members Jayne Wilkinson and Julie Kelly who will be helping model the golf wear.

Meanwhile Angus, a PGA Advanced Professional, took over at the club last year and is enjoying the new challenge.

“It’s a fantastic club, very warm and friendly and it’s an absolute gem of a course,” he said.

“All the committee and members are working hard to make Churchill & Blakedown even more successful and initiatives such as the golf and fashion show are a great way of raising the profile of the Club.”
