Rabbits and Tigers Triumph

Vice Captain, Chris Howles (l) and Captain, Gary Williams

The curtain raiser to the competitive season that is Rabbits and Tigers was played under glorious blue skies in ideal golfing conditions on Sunday. This traditional four-ball, better-ball, event was full of friendly rivalry from the outset as the early risers spilled out on to the patio to consume their bacon or sausage baps before teeing it up for the shotgun start.

Among the incidents was the breakdown of the President’s buggy, which required seven members to remove it from the course! One rabbit’s trolley, with a mind of its own, was close to careering into Churchill Lane before it was halted by a fleet footed Tiger. Other incidents are best not shared on the web!

The afternoon groups enjoyed the same glorious conditions. The golf was played as competitively as ever and with much banter to ensure enjoyment for all.

Players enjoyed swapping tales over a four course meal in the clubhouse on Monday evening after which the match scores were detailed. The trophy was presented by The Captain to the Vice Captain after Rabbits retained the trophy when the event finished with 6 1/2 matches each.

A special morning welcome to the course
